Stairs on Shoe Rail

Similar to "stairs in the rough" with the posts mounted directly into the rough tread/flooring, but with the balusters mounted into a suspended "Shoe Rail", where they don't touch the floor.

Note: If you have open end treads as pictured, and don't plan on replacing your carpet soon, this is the best option for you.

This particular stair configuration is very common in home built in the 70's.
